The use of passive correctors on the treatment of hallux valgus in combination with individual physiotherapy
Soejonová, Eliška ; Plevová, Kristýna (advisor) ; Benešová, Lucie (referee)
OF BACHELOR THESIS Name, surname: Eliška Soejonová Supervisor: Ing. Kristýna Plevová Title of bachelor's thesis: The use of passive correctors for the treatment of hallux valgus in combination with individual physiotherapy The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of hallux valgus deformity. This static deformity of the foreleg affects almost a third of the world's population and is one of the most common causes of foot pain. The deformity disrupts the kinesiology of the foot, increases the risk of falls and generally reduces the quality of life. Treatment using methods of physical therapy mainly includes active exercise and facilitation of the muscles of the foot. Hallux valgus deformity can also be treated with passive correctors. Objectives: The main objective of the bachelor thesis is the treatment of hallux valgus deformity using a combination of passive correctors and individual physiotherapy. A partial goal is to improve the values of the measured parameters - that is, to reduce pain, increase the activity of the intrinsic muscles and reduce the size of the hallux valgus angle. Methods: As part of the practical part, 3 patients with symptomatic hallux valgus deformity were selected according to the criteria and underwent a 30-day physiotherapy intervention. This consisted of 6 individual...
Complex therapy of hallux valgus
CHRÁSTKOVÁ, Petra
This bachelor thesis deals with the most common static deformity of the forefoot - hallux valgus and the therapy of this deformity in a complex concept with a focus on the overall posture of individual patients. Hallux valgus is characterized as a valgus position of the thumb with rotation at the MTP joint and with prominence of the head of the first metatarsal medially. This deformity rarely occurs alone and other static deformities are associated with it - transverse and longitudinal flatfoot or deformities of individual toes. Causes include wearing inappropriate footwear, genetics and other congenital predisposing factors, but from a functional and physiotherapist's point of view, the often neglected deep stabilization system (HSSP) and its overall alignment and functionality also play a crucial role. It is therefore important to get the word out to the general public, in addition to the experts, and to dispel the common population's perception that bunions are only a matter of wearing inappropriate footwear and that this common problem needs to be approached holistically across the entire posture. The main objectives of this study were to comprehensively map this issue from a physiotherapy perspective and to further design an individual exercise unit for patients with hallux valgus with respect to their overall posture. In the theoretical part, the anatomy and kinesiology of the foot is described, then the most common static deformities of the foot are presented with emphasis on the issue of hallux valgus. Towards the end, selected physiotherapeutic methods that can be used to influence this deformity are presented. The practical part was developed by means of qualitative research, in the form of several kinesiological analyses of selected patients with hallux valgus findings. The research population consisted of 3 probands (women). The research includes detailed initial and output kinesiological analyses of probands and individually designed exercise unit. The research was conducted in 9 therapy sessions and sessions. The results of the research are summarised in the practical section of this bachelor thesis. The probands improved in a number of the tests studied after the therapies and their general posture and physical condition were positively affected. This thesis can be used as study material for students of physiotherapy, but also as a summary of information for patients with hallux valgus or the public.
Appearance of hallux valgus in selected dance groups
Gavlíková, Hana ; Strnad, Pavel (advisor) ; Vrátná, Eliška (referee)
Appearance of hallux valgus in selected dance groups Objectives: The main purpose was to found out, how many athletes from group of dancing respondents are dealing with deformity of hallux valgus. Another aim of this work was to found out the awareness about hallux valgus in dancing community and also to get information about another problems of musculoskeletal system, which could be related. Methods: For collecting the data was created online Non Standardised Questionnaire (form). For following processing and evaluation of collected data were used Pie Charts, Column Charts, tables and verbal summary as well. Results: The results proved that more than half dancers are dealing with problems of hallux valgus (55%), 69% from this half confirmed, that they are having problems in other parts of their musculoskeletal system as well. Data also showed higher incidence of deformity in women. Awareness of this topic was surprisingly high - 77.6% of respondents. Keywords: dance sport, Hallux valgus, forefoot deformity, posture, Non Standardised Questionnaire
Case Study of the Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient After Bilateral Hallux Valgus Surgery
Illetšková, Jana ; Vomáčková, Helena (advisor) ; Mahr, Edwin (referee)
Title of bachelor's thesis: Case Study of the Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient After Bilateral Hallux Valgus Surgery Objectives: The objective of this thesis is the collection of theoretical and practical knowledge related to the hallux valgus deformity and their application to a case study of a patient who had undergone the bilateral hallux valgus surgery. Summary: This thesis is separated into two sections: a general section and a special section. The general section contains descriptions of the hallux valgus deformity. It first discusses the topics of anatomy of the leg, kinesiology of the leg, and biomechanics of walking. Further, it focuses on the hallux valgus deformity, its definition, etiology, development, diagnosis, and treatment, including physiotherapy methods. The special section contains the case study of patient after the bilateral hallux valgus surgery, including the input and output kinesiological analysis, short-term and long-term plan of the therapy, the design of the therapy, the description of the course of individual therapeutic units, and an evaluation of the effect of the therapy. Conclusions: The pain in patient's right instep was successfully eliminated. The small joints were relaxed. The range of the motion of the big toe was increased and the weakened muscles were...
The Influence of Hallux Valgus on the Posture
Klasnová, Nicol ; Průšková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Táborská, Silvie (referee)
Surname and name: Nicol Klasnová Consultant: Mgr. Kateřina Průšková, Dis. Title of thesis: The Influence of Hallux Valgus on the Posture Key words: Hallux valgus, forefoot deformity, posture, hallux valgus angle, intermetatarsal angle, the axial position of the thumb In the bachleor thesis on "The influence of Hallux valgus on the posture" we have focused on the hallux valgus issue , its preservative treatment and relationship to a posture. In each chapters we describe the theory on this issue. In particular we describe anatomy and kinesiology of legs, kinesiology of walk and the way how hallux valgus deformity can affects various body structures. The practical part contains three case studies which are devoted to three patients in a period of approximately 12 weeks. Patients have the same diagnosis, an obtained hallux valgus each one with different degree of deformity. The stage of deformity was set on the basis of an axial position of the hallux valgus of radiographs. Each patient has even another related complication. The aim of my thesis was to develop a comprehensive therapy for hallux valgus deformity and to see whether this therapy can change the axial position of the thumb and last but not least whether this can affect their related subjective complications. From outcome X-rays is apparent...
